Weird Nightmare – a Tribute to Charles Mingus

“Weird Nightmare – a Tribute to Charles Mingus” is a film by Ray Davis (of The Kinks) about the making of the album by the same name, produced by Hal Willner in 1993.
There are many scenes of Hal in the studio as well as interviews with him and Elvis Costello.

Every year, on the occasion of Lou Reed‘s birthday, the touring crew of Lou Reed (spearheaded by Gary Hood – one of the crew members) organizes a Lou tribute at Bowery Electric. Hal here reads Lou Reed’s “Take No Prisoners”. This was Hal’s last public performance.
